What to expect in the office

At Gastroenterology Specialists we want to make each visit informative, helpful, and comfortable. Our office staff and providers will work with you to ensure your needs are met and your questions are answered.

Your gastroenterologist may discuss your symptoms with you and evaluate your needs. When appropriate, your gastroenterologist will work with your primary care physician to customize a care plan for you. While you are in our office, you may be seen by a Certified Nurse Practitioner who has advanced training and is able to provide special care for your unique needs.

Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to your appointment time. This allows ample time to register you and answer any questions you may have. We strive to have our patients in the exam room at their appointment time so that you can be on your way.

Registration

When you enter our Practice you will be greeted by friendly, helpful staff that will assist you with registration. During the registration process, you will need to show a photo id and current insurance cards. If you are new to our Practice and have completed forms, we will review those with you. We will always ask for your preferred pharmacy so that we may order prescriptions when necessary.  Please also bring a complete list of medications and any over the counter vitamins or herbal supplements that you may be currently taking.

Exam Room

Shortly after registration, you will be escorted to an exam room by a medical assistant with advanced training in gastroenterology. Your medical assistant will ask you for your current medications, health concerns, and will take your vitals. Your healthcare provider will then see you to discuss your health concerns and symptoms further.

Scheduling your procedure

Once your exam is complete, you may be asked to schedule an appointment for a procedure in our Endoscopy Center. You will be escorted to a scheduler who will review any instructions for your procedure and schedule a procedure time for you. We require a $50 deposit to reserve your Endoscopy Center visit. Once your insurance payment has been received, this deposit will either be applied to your balance, or will be refunded to you.
